No, you don't have to quit your job to start a business...seriously
Every year around this time people start thinking about their New Year's Resolutions and how next year is "going to be different."
I'm one of those people for sure, I have a bunch of goals that I would love to hit in 2025 so it never surprises me when people say they want to start a business in the new year. I've been a full-time entrepreneur for almost 8 years so I try to be encouraging and helpful as I can.
A few people follow through, most don't but thats how most New Years Resolutions go so that isn't very surprising at all quite frankly.
However, lately I've been noticing a common theme from people who are nervous about start a business.
They think they NEED to quit their job to do it.
"Malcom, I love the idea of starting a business, and making more money but I just don't know if I have the time to actually build a business and I still need my job in the mean time, I can't quit my job."
I totaly understand that.
We all can't just wake up one day and quit our jobs to build an unproven business when we each have responsibilities, not to mention, this eceonomy is not the best.
There are way too many "business coaches" on the internet telling people to quit their jobs and go all in when they have no clue where to even start.
I even went to my mother who's been putting off her brilliant busines idea for years and asked her what some of her issues were and to my surprise she said the same things:
- No time
- Can't quit her job
- Doesn't know where to even begin
That got me to thinking about how someone could build a business tat actually makes money while still keeping their job...
